Last updated: 2019-12-18 22:20The Hong Kong Stock Exchange (0388) released a consultation summary on the review of the Environmental, Social and Governance Reporting Guidelines and relevant Listing Rules provisions, and the latest review of the environmental, social and governance disclosures of listed issuers.
Dai Linhan, director of listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, pointed out that the current revision reflects Hong Kong Stock Exchange's determination to enhance Hong Kong's ESG regulatory structure to ensure that it meets investor and stakeholder expectations and international best practices.
The HKEx pointed out that a total of 153 responses were received from people from all walks of life. The opinions generally reflect the market's strong support for various consultation suggestions that will help improve the ESG reporting framework. The consultation document will be fully implemented after appropriate amendments based on the comments received Proposed, the amendments will take effect in fiscal years beginning on or after July 1 next year.
The amendments include shortening the publication period of the ESG report to within 5 months after the end of the financial year, and requiring disclosure of major climate-related matters that have and may affect the issuer.
