The Syrian Virtual University honored today at the Dar Al-Assad Theater for Culture and Arts in Damascus the winning teams in the Arab Digital Content Contest held in Syria for the first time in the presence of Dr. Najah Al-Attar, Vice President of the Republic and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University.
The first place won the "Flexible Learning" project for each of the students Muhammad Adel Saad Al-Din, Nagham Al-Shaarani, Salman Ali, Muhammad Ali Al-Hammad and Al-Bara Al-Shahoud. The award amounted to two and a half million Syrian pounds, while the second place was won by the "Translate" project by Mahmoud Aslan, and the prize amounted to two million Syrian pounds, while the third place A "smart tourist assistant" project won him each of the students weighing Darwish and Manar Sahu, and the prize amounted to two million Syrian pounds.
The first phase of the competition included the study and evaluation of the participants ’projects by a specialized scientific committee according to a system of standards consistent with the objectives of the competition, where 31 of the total projects submitted amounting to 67 projects were qualified to the second stage and their owners received specific training in the field of entrepreneurship and was developed under the supervision of mentors from the academic sectors It takes three months to nominate 19 of them to participate in the final competition.
Dr. Al-Ajmi pointed out that a workshop will be held during the coming period for the projects of the 19 teams that have reached the final competition in order to allow them to meet the concerned authorities and stakeholders who can adopt these projects and study the support mechanism that will be provided to them, indicating that the virtual university has chosen some of these Projects to support, adopt and invest within its system.
The student weighs Darwish from the Faculty of Information Engineering at the Virtual University, indicating that his project includes a digital tourist guide for the Syrian Arab Republic in multiple languages that serves foreign and Arab tourists, considering that the competition is an opportunity to show the distinguished student during his university studies.
The ceremony included screening of films on Arab digital content, stages of the competition, companies and their supporters, and musical compositions performed by the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra, led by Maestro Misak Bagboudrian, and the distribution of prizes and certificates of appreciation to the winners.
The Syrian Virtual University had launched this competition with the aim of enriching the Arab digital content and making this content in all its components by expanding the circle of supporting this content and stimulating its industry at the level of individuals, institutions and organizations and encouraging university graduates and young entrepreneurs to work in it as well as activating content projects in business incubators and reaching an advanced level In the field of investing applications, information systems and modern technologies and providing an opportunity to review innovative ideas, entrepreneurial skills and entrepreneurship in scientific dialogue frameworks.
The Virtual University is an accredited public university established in 2002 and it includes several majors, such as information engineering, media, information technology, communications, law and economics, and it works to provide a modern education, training and research system in the academic and professional field.
