Various right-wing activists, led by the former Minister of Transport and the Minister of Justice, have embarked on a campaign for the unification of one large list and the rejection of Minister Peretz with the aim of conquering religious Zionism. The two men's attempt to manipulate the partners around them ended in the collapse of the alliance, and the dream of the 61 mandate for the right bloc still seems far off

At the end of the week, the secret alliance that tried to conquer religious Zionism and lead it over the coming years came to an end. The Bezalel alliance Smutrich-Ayelet Shaked was formed a few weeks ago, when the various players in the political arena realized that a government would not be formed and that Israel was facing the scenario no one expected: a third election.

Smutrich and Shaked, longtime political partners who also foster corporate relationships, began a series of meetings to plan their political future. Thus began the campaign that led to various factors in religious Zionism for the unification of one large list and the establishment of open primaries for leadership. The same elements close to Smutrich and Shaked, were directed by them and acted on their mission with the aim of leading a move that would eventually be ousted by the incumbent chairman of the Jewish House, Minister Rafi Peretz, and Shaked will receive the premiere.

For Shaked, it was a golden opportunity to have the final goodbye from longtime partner Naftali Bennett, who, in her view, left her on the road as he entered the 14th floor of the Ministry of Defense and whose political way no longer matched hers. She, who, according to her, went on to form the new right-wing party with no choice and reluctance, was and remains well-known for religious Zionism. For her, the impeachment of Peretz and the conquest of the Jewish Home Party was a plan to return home, to an old party with a functioning mechanism and institutions of life. According to the plan, it was supposed to be an interim station until the moment when it could move to the Likud, a move it cannot currently implement due to the opposition of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and especially his wife Sarah.

For Smutrich, who is leading the ultra-Orthodox line in religious Zionism, it was a real opportunity to get rid of the twin party leader, Rafi Peretz, to whom he never felt respect or affection. Relations between the two quickly became disconnected, and the lack of affection was replaced with constant animosity. Smutrich considered Peretz an unwise politician, lacking sophistication, who does not understand the environment in which he operates, and is primarily a competition for the religious Zionist leadership to which he aspires. Placing Shaked in the Jewish House would have allowed Smutrich two achievements: in the short term, the impeachment of Peretz, and in the long run Extend her rejection: A secular woman will not be able to lead religious Zionism over time, Smutrich would explain S, there is a defect entries. So it was backs on the head, all the way to the conquest of the leadership of the national religious public.

With a sharp knife between the teeth

This past weekend, in less than 24 hours, the Alliance collapsed and from one of its rubble one major loser emerges: Smutrich himself. On Thursday evening, Shaked announced that after long glances, she returned to Bennett's lap and ran as his number 2 on the new right. It was not enough for a day and he got another hit in the form of a joint running agreement signed between the Jewish home led by Peretz and Jewish power of Itamar Ben Gvir. Smutrich was left with no open primaries, no unity, no almight and no political partnership. This move doesn't stand much chance, but he can only hope that Shaked will remember a kindness to the alliance between them and try to convince Bennett to take him with them to the new right, at least with the aim of raising a price against Peretz in future negotiations.

Peretz, Jewish Home Speaker, bravely tackles the obstacles that have set him on the path, but before handing him compliments on his first political achievement, one must consider whether he will be able to get to the end. The agreement with Jewish power managed to provoke great fury within the party, and whether he would bring The agreement to approve at the Center, it may encounter many objections, in which case the final failure will be registered to his name more than any intermediate achievement.

Smutrich and Shaked each went through a series of politically surprised surprises and opportunities over the past year. Until a year ago, both were members of the Jewish Home Party under Bennett's leadership. Since then, the new right-wing venture has begun and the rest is history. The failure of the joint alliance can be summed up in the two's attempt to manipulate the partners around them, sometimes with too sharp a knife between their teeth. Meanwhile, the cards inside the bloc are starting to work out, but even now the long-awaited destination, in the form of 61 seats for the entire bloc, still looks distant.
