Mother shakes 5 month old baby, examining the baby's brain death

The conditions of the 5-month-old baby who has been in a coma hospital in Padua since Saturday are desperate. The facts happened in the house that the young family shares in Mestrino. The 29-year-old woman is under investigation for serious aggravated injuries.

It was she herself who confessed to the carabinieri and the magistrate Roberto Piccione, that she had "rocked too hard" the baby, who didn't want to sleep. The mother, of Vicenza origins, called 118 after seeing that the baby was no longer breathing.

If the facts were confirmed by the visit of two experts delegated by the Prosecutor, who will carry out an investigation on Friday, the case would fall into the "Baby shake syndrome", the syndrome of the shaken child who causes serious brain and neurological damage in children.
