(CNN) - We know that you want 2019 to be canceled, reported and blocked. You think it was horrible, depressing and it lasted too long. But, listen to us, it wasn't that bad. To conclude with an excellent note, here is a list of some of the good things that happened this year.

The world

The Navy of India welcomed its first female pilot • People from all over the world united to save the life of a 2-year-old girl • Austria appointed her first chancellor • The European Commission elected its first president • Women now they lead five of the main parties in the parliament of Finland • For the first time, all the important contests were won by women of color • Macedonia was renamed, ending a decades-old dispute with Greece • President Donald Trump made history as the first Acting US leader in stepping on North Korea • Pope Francis became the first pontiff to visit a state in the Arab Gulf.

U.S

The 116th Congress became the most diverse in the history of the United States • Chicago elected its first black mayor • Cruelty to animals is officially a federal crime • California is now the first state to offer medical insurance to some undocumented immigrants • Montgomery, Alabama, elected its first black mayor in 200 years • New York banned the so-called defense of gay and trans “panic” • The biggest mass forgiveness of prisoners in US history • The White House honored a military dog for attacking the leader of the ISIS • The Little Shell Tribe became the newest indigenous tribe to receive federal recognition

Human rights

Indonesia raised the minimum age to marry and thus end child marriage • Finally, women in Saudi Arabia are allowed to travel independently • Taiwan became the first place in Asia to pass legislation on marriage between people same sex • Botswana decided to decriminalize same-sex consensual relationships • Northern Ireland legalized same-sex marriage • Ecuador joined neighboring countries to legalize same-sex marriage • Iranian women were officially allowed attend a football game for the first time in 40 years
