(CNN) - For a Milwaukee family, this year's Christmas miracle did not arrive on a sleigh guided by reindeer. He arrived through a bus from the county transit system.

After finishing his bus route around midnight on December 18, Jamie Grabowski, a Milwaukee County Transit System bus driver, was heading back to the garage when he saw two dogs entering and leaving the street. Then, she stopped.

“Hello, you two! They need to go home right now, ”Grabowski can be heard saying in the bus surveillance video while he lowers the window. "Come on, come on, inside!"

Grabowski stopped the bus, opened the front door, got out and guided the pit bull and the doberman pinscher on board, where they explored while she contacted the transit office.

"I got them on the bus because I thought they were going to be beaten," he told the dispatcher before addressing his furry passengers. “Come here, babies! I know. Come here. I'm going to take you home. "

Grabowski, a self-proclaimed "lovely dog," feared dogs would freeze in the weather of -6 degrees Celsius (20 degrees Fahrenheit), he said. He played with them while he waited for a policeman to pick them up, the video shows.

"It was supposed to be meant for me to find these dogs," he told WITI, a CNN affiliate.

The police officer took the dogs to their patrol and took them to the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animals Control Commission, which contacted the dog's family.

The owner of the dogs, Stephanie Gómez, told WITI that the dogs were released when their mother left them outside to do their needs.

"He turned around for a good five seconds, turned around and left," Gomez said.

Grabowski found the couple about 4 km from their home, according to the Milwaukee County Transit System.

When they learned that Grabowski had taken care of his dogs even though he had never met them, he made Gomez's family happy, the owner told WITI.

"I thought we wouldn't see them again," he said. "We were all in panic right now because basically these are our children."
