The security guard heard a loud noise to check and found that the woman victim was lying in the underground flower trough, so she called the police. Police arrived at the scene to confirm the woman's death on the spot and no suicide note at the scene. The 22-year-old woman was reportedly the daughter of Zhang Huafeng, deputy chairman of the IPCC and a member of the Legislative Council's financial services sector. The police initially believed that she had fallen from the unit and no suicide note was found at the scene. It is reported that the female victim had a history of depression. The police initially believed that the incident was not suspicious and the cause of death had to be determined after an autopsy.
