At least one person was killed by gunfire that occurred today inside a shopping center in a Denver suburb in Aurora, Colorado, USA.
"We are investigating gunfire in the city center ... There is a heavy police presence on the southern side of the commercial center," the Aurora City Police Department said in a statement, calling on citizens to avoid the area.
"There is no threat currently inside the mall ... We do not believe there is a threat to the general public," Aurora Police Department spokesman Anthony Camacho later told reporters, explaining that the shooting was being investigated as a suicide.
The mall is located in the same city where a gunman shot at a theater in 2012, killing 12 people and wounding dozens.
The number of shootings in the United States continues to increase in light of the widespread violence in American society, especially after Donald Trump's arrival at the White House in early 2017.
