Two people were killed and a third injured in a church fire in Texas, in an accident the second of its kind in the past 24 hours in the US state.
"A person was killed at the scene of the accident and the other one died while being transferred to the hospital," local newspaper Dallas Morning News quoted a spokeswoman for the local emergency service as saying in a statement today. He opened fire on a group of those present before someone shot him.
Yesterday, two people were killed and six others wounded in a fire in Houston, Texas, while five people were injured as a result of a stabbing at a house in Monsie, near New York City, last night.
Mass killings have skyrocketed in the United States in recent times, making 2019 the bloodiest year in five decades, according to US statistics, with 41 such incidents.
