Colombes: he burns a municipal police car… and also ignites

2020-01-01T18:53:25.959Z

About fifteen vehicles were burned in the Hauts-de-Seine during the night of New Year's Eve.

Head covered with a hood or a cap, he crosses the deserted street to approach a municipal police car, parked just in front of the city police station. The man extracts a bottle from his sleeve, empties the contents on the windshield and the roof of the vehicle then sets on fire so that the car ignites.

The scene, which only lasts a few seconds, was filmed this Wednesday morning around 6 am, rue de la Liberté in Colombes . Just after the car ignites, we see the arsonist rushing away, his clothes also catching fire…

"Fortunately we had closed the street to traffic"

"It is clearly a gratuitous act that targets the municipal police, comments the office of the mayor (LR) Nicole Goueta. Nothing special happened during the night, except the burning of this municipal police car, parked and with no one inside. "

"Fortunately, we had closed the street to traffic, a passerby or a motorist could have been affected," added one in town hall.

A judicial investigation is opened to find the arsonist, who seems to have injured at least one hand when the car caught fire.

Some clashes in other municipalities

This act of vandalism was committed at the end of a "fairly calm" New Year's Eve night in the Hauts-de-Seine. From north to south of the department, in particular in Asnières , Nanterre , Clamart , Bagneux , around fifteen vehicles were burnt down.

The police also suffered some projectile throws and mortar fire. Without however that the situations do not really degenerate. And without these scuffles, in Asnières and Bagneux in particular, causing injuries.
