The Mother Movement will petition the High Court on Thursday, calling on the court to order Minister of Education Rafi Peretz, the Council for Higher Education and the Hebrew University to bring disciplinary proceedings against Professor Amiram Goldblum - following his remarks against the movement and its members.

According to the movement, last May Goldblum posted a number of comments against the movement, which included harsh words, including "dogs", "Nazis" and "Hitler boys". Goldblum also added that he would not allow students to attend his classes while with the traffic signs.

Initially, the movement complained to the president of the Hebrew University, who admittedly shrugged off things, but refused to prosecute the lecturer. Following his refusal, a motion was submitted to the Council for Higher Education, which agreed that Goldblum's remarks were a disciplinary offense, and they violated the Student Rights Act, but refused to require the Hebrew University to prosecute him.

Recall, in 2016, the state comptroller issued a harsh report attacking the Hebrew University for refraining from taking proceedings against lecturers who have been subject to disciplinary offenses. Following the report, the council decided to take a strict line requiring universities to conduct disciplinary proceedings against lecturers. However, according to you, the conduct of the CIS in this case indicates that this policy is not actually implemented.

The petition states that "not only are Goldblum's harsh statements a violation of the University's by-laws, but they constitute a" cooling effect "that discourages students from joining the movement for fear of damaging their academic future."

Adv. Eran Ben Ari, representing Mother Theresa in the petition: "It is inconceivable that a lecturer will publicly threaten the academic future of students who want to make their voices heard on the campus legal market, while the university, the NGO and the education minister are whispering and avoiding disciplinary action. "In a reformed country, Prof. Goldblum would have ceased to be a full professor long ago. This petition is an important step in the fight for freedom of expression."
