Firefighters from a fire department from the city of Detroit, Michigan, in the United States are being investigated for taking selfie photos in the background of a burning house sent out to extinguish. "The team is taking a moment to photograph Selfie in honor of the New Year!", The photo posted to the city's Facebook fire page says, according to local media reports.
An official from the city's fire department said the photographed home and surrounding homes were vacant, and that the team was celebrating the retirement of one of their friends. The station's commander, Eric Jones, said the picture was "inappropriate and unprofessional" and announced the opening of an internal investigation into the matter. In a statement to a local TV channel, the station commander said "There are many ways to celebrate retirement. Taking a photo against a burning house is not one of them." Following the harsh reactions, the picture was removed from Facebook.
