(ANSA) - BRESCIA, JAN 03 - The 48-year-old who was hospitalized yesterday at the Hospital of Brescia for meningitis died this morning.
The woman, Marzia Colosio, mother of two children, was from Predore, in the province of Bergamo. Marzia Colosio had accused the first illnesses on New Year's day and yesterday she was hospitalized. Her condition immediately appeared serious and she died this morning. This is the fourth case of meningitis in less than a month on Lake Iseo, in the Bergamasco. The 48-year-old was originally from Tavernola, residing in Predore and worked in Castelli Calepio, a town a few kilometers from Villongo, where three cases of meningitis were recorded last December. Doctors diagnosed the woman with an aggressive form, although it is still unclear whether it is the C strain of the three Villongo cases.
