(CNN Spanish) - The High Commissioner for Peace, Miguel Ceballos, will travel to Bojayá, in the department of Chocó, in northwestern Colombia, to "increase the efforts of the Government to meet unmet needs," he said in a statement Thursday. the office of the presidency of Colombia.

According to the Army, at least 70 officers arrived in Bojayá and other municipalities in the department of Chocó on Thursday to strengthen security in regions where drug traffickers and armed groups operate.

The Minister of Defense, General Luis Fernando Navarro Jiménez, accompanied by the Commander of the National Army, Major General Eduardo Enrique Zapateiro, headed a special security council in Bojayá on Thursday afternoon.

Navarro Jiménez reported that some lines of action were determined that include, in addition to increasing the presence of troops in Bojayá, establishing permanent controls in hamlets, neutralizing drug trafficking corridors and that the commander in front of the deployed troops remains in the area until be necessary.
