Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi confirmed their condemnation and rejection of the American crime by assassinating the Quds Force commander, Qassem Soleimani.
Tass news agency quoted the Russian Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement today that "the two ministers stressed in a telephone call the refusal to violate the United Nations Charter in the context of the American missile attacks on Baghdad," which Soleimani and Deputy Chairman of the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Authority Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis and their comrades cited.
The statement pointed out that "the two ministers focused on the recent strike of American air on the vicinity of Baghdad airport, in which there were casualties."
In its statement, the ministry called for stressing "the importance of refusing to use force and violating the United Nations Charter and the need for all states to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other nations."
Lavrov confirmed yesterday during a phone call with his US counterpart Mike Pompeo that the assassination of officials in a sovereign country is a violation of international law, while the director of the office of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China Yang Jiechi expressed in a similar call with Pompeo his country's deep concern about the current situation In the Middle East, against the backdrop of the assassination of Soleimani.
