A US official denied Saturday that the United States is behind the attack in northern Baghdad. Earlier, Newsweek reports that Pentagon officials said the attack was aimed at Imam Ali's regiments, and that he suspected a-Shaabi suspect was killed. However, various reports have denied him death and other senior deaths. The parties who spoke to AP and Newsweek did so under conditions of anonymity.

The official stressed in a conversation with the AP that Washington is not behind the recent assault. During the night, al-Miyadin reported that there was initial information about five people suspected of killing a-Sha'bi in an attack in northern Baghdad. According to this report, an "important personality" may have been eliminated. The militia roof organization denied the report, claiming that in the attacked vehicles, a medical team was traveling and it did not include senior officials.
According to an Iraqi source who spoke to Reuters, the attack occurred at 1:12 a.m., Baghdad watch. Two militia vehicles, out of three traveling in a convoy, were destroyed. Rescue forces arriving at the scene located six burnt bodies near the remains of the vehicles.

Recall, on the night between Thursday and Friday, the US exiled the Quds Force commander of the Revolutionary Guards, General Qassem Suleimani. Shaabi, the umbrella organization of Shiite militias in the country.
President Trump said that Suleimani was eliminated as he planned a massive attack on US Middle East targets over the next few days. Also, Suleimani was likely responsible for the assault of hundreds of rioters on the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad this past week.
Iran condemned the assassination and promised revenge. "The Middle East will be filled with the bodies of Americans," said a Revolutionary Guards official. Suleimani is considered the "snake head" of Iran's international terrorist activity, and one of the country's most senior figures. He was a favorite of spiritual leader Ali Khamenei, and recently his name was even mentioned as a possible candidate for the Iranian presidency.
