Catalan party enables the investiture of Pedro Sánchez 2:53
(CNN Spanish) - The Spanish socialist leader, Pedro Sánchez, did not achieve this Sunday the absolute majority necessary in Congress to be invested president of the Government in the first vote.
Sanchez required 176 votes in favor, but only got 166 votes in favor, while he garnered 165 votes against and 18 abstentions.

The president of the Chamber, Meritxell Batet, adjourned the session until next Tuesday, January 7. On that day a second round of the debate will begin, with a new vote where Sanchez can be invested by a simple majority.
