More than 40 people in the attack on the LeBarón family 1:39

(CNN Spanish) - The president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, anticipated on Tuesday that his meeting with the LeBarón family will be a “humanitarian visit” and of a “fraternal” nature, in which he will seek to inform them of the progress of the investigation of the massacre in Bavispe, Sonora, in which all nine victims - six women and three children - belonged to that family clan. The meeting is scheduled for this Sunday, January 12 in La Mora, a town in the municipality of Bavispe.

López Obrador remarked that his objective is to “inform them that there is no impunity, that we in all cases seek justice and I will also offer, once again, my solidarity to family members. It is a humanitarian visit, a fraternity visit with them. ”

During his traditional morning meeting with the press media, the president deepened some details of that meeting, saying that “we are going to inform you about the investigations, the progress that is made to punish those responsible for this unfortunate crime in which they lost The life of women and children. I made the commitment to be with them and I will be there. ”

In line with the advance by López Obrador, Mexico's attorney general, Alejandro Gertz Manero, met Tuesday with members of the Lebarón family and informed them of the progress of the investigation into the attack in Bavispe.

According to an official statement from the prosecutor's office, the official ratified that "three arrest warrants against various individuals have been completed, in addition to four entrenched people and 40 more considered as likely suspects of the unfortunate events." In the case of the entrenched, it is a Mexican legal figure that is used to investigate suspected criminals and, in practice, allows the permanent surveillance of the Public Ministry on persons suspected of committing a crime or having information related to it .

Adrián and Julián Lebarón, and other family members participated in the meeting, which was held at the headquarters of the Prosecutor's Office. The group was accompanied by Antonio Martínez Luna and Abel Murrieta Gutiérrez, former attorneys for the states of Baja California and Sonora, respectively. These professionals are representatives of the victims and will also act as permanent interveners of the Public Prosecutor's Office, with the premise of guaranteeing the transparency of the process.

The Prosecutor's Office remarked that these types of meetings will be repeated periodically, while reiterating the call for “that the case be called by reason of the region in which the events occurred, separating the surnames of the victims and thus protecting their human rights and their dignity".

For its part, the Lebarón family is promoting a march, along with activist Javier Sicilia, for next Thursday, January 23, which will depart from Tlatelolco and that it plans to arrive three days later at the Zocalo in Mexico City. The call was confirmed by Julián Lebarón in an interview he offered on Wednesday to Televisa, an affiliated CNN network in Mexico. “We are going to leave. I think that if 100 Mexicans have lost their lives every day and in the last year, it is because we citizens have not done our part. Defending life is the obligation of all Mexicans and I almost seem to grab the president or the prosecutor as a scapegoat for such a huge problem and with which they will never be able to ”.

In that line, Lebarón said that “the participation of millions of Mexicans is needed to defend life. We need to go together and if we do not agree on ideology, religion or politics, we have to agree to defend life, and we have to work to pressure the authority or get professional people who can deal with the problem. ”
