The Iraqi army confirmed that two rockets landed on Wednesday in the protected area of Baghdad, the so-called ' Green Zone ', where the US embassy is located . No deaths were reported.
Two of the projectiles fell about 100 meters from the embassy in the Iraqi capital.
A Pentagon official told CNN presenter Jake Tapper that many US military leaders think that "Iran deliberately chose targets that would NOT result in loss of life, especially from Americans: 'Deliberate targets, minimum damage, maximum warning / effect' .
AFP journalists reported that they heard two explosions in central Baghdad 24 hours after the launch of Iranian missiles on bases that house US soldiers in Baghdad. This is the third attack in the Green Zone since an American drone killed Iranian General Qasem Soleimani five days ago in the Iraqi capital.
