Following Trump's order to deny funding from non-anti-Semitic institutions, an event will be investigated at UCLA in which a Muslim lecturer described Zionism as "an expression of white supremacy"

A complaint filed with the U.S. Department of Education's Civil Rights Department led US authorities to investigate whether UCLA, located in Los Angeles, violated its direct commitment to Section 6 of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by not preventing a hostile atmosphere toward the Jewish community on campus .

The complaint is based on a specific case in which she attended one of the anthropology classes at a University of San Francisco external lecturer named Rabab Abdul-Hadi, who described the State of Israel as a racist enterprise, rejected her right to exist, claiming "Zionism is an expression of white supremacy."

The StandWithUs Fight Against Anti-Semitism Center filed the complaint with a Jewish student, Sheyna Lavie, who was present at the lesson and referred challenging questions to the lecturer following her remarks against Zionism. The lecturer, in response, verbally harassed the student in the classroom, and the student also experienced further harassment from her lecturer in the course, Kyung Park, who invited Abdul-Hadi to the guest lecture. The student reported the incident to the university's management, who failed to provide effective or appropriate treatment.

A few days ago, the U.S. Department of Education's Civil Rights Department informed StandWithUs and the Zachor Legal Institute, which filed a similar complaint, that they intend to launch a full investigation following anti-Semitic incidents at UCLA. Many allegations made during the talk are considered anti-Semitic The definition on which the new presidential decree adopted on December 11 is based - the definition of the International Holocaust Remembrance Task Force (IHRA), which compares anti-Zionism to anti-Semitism, stating that the Jewish people's right to self-determination is an anti-Semitic act.

"Students should not be discriminated against, harassed or attacked by their professors after defending themselves, their identity or their community," argued Rose Rothstein, CEO of StandWithUs, and one of the founders of the organization. "Zionism is an integral part of Sheena's Jewish identity , Like many Jewish students, and the university administration must protect them from exclusion and demonization. One should not give a free stage to such hatred. "

So far, Section 6 of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 has allowed the federal government to exclude budgets from institutions where discrimination was based on nationality, skin color or race, but not on religious grounds. Under the new presidential decree, a violation of Article 6 also occurs in cases of manifestations of anti-Semitism, including anti-Zionism.
