Britain's Foreign Ministry confirmed Saturday that the Iranian ambassador to Tehran has been arrested and detained for several hours by the Iranian authorities, during a demonstration. British Foreign Minister Dominique Rab denounced the arrest, saying it was a "blatant violation of international law".

Earlier, the Iranian News Agency reported that British Ambassador Rob Makir was detained for several hours in front of Amir Kabir University because of what has been termed "incitement of protesters against the government." Apparently, the ambassador took pictures in a demonstration.
