Iranian President Hassan Rouhani confirmed that the Iranian authorities made every effort from the first moments of the accident of the Ukrainian passenger plane crash, announcing that he welcomed any international cooperation to clarify the circumstances of the accident.

In a telephone call received from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau today, Rouhani expressed his regret over the accident of the crash of the Ukrainian passenger plane and the killing of its passengers. He said: “This accident was painful and constitutes a great tragedy for the Iranian and Canadian peoples and all other peoples whose children were on the plane.”

Rouhani explained that the security of the Middle East region "has reached a dangerous stage because of American interventions and practices" and said: "We presented the Hormuz Peace Initiative in the framework of reducing tension ... We must all make our efforts to restore stability and full security to the region."

Rouhani pointed to the negative repercussions of destabilizing security in the region and the assassination of Americans, Lieutenant-General Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Quds Force, on the peoples of the region.

For his part, the Canadian Prime Minister expressed his condolences for the killing of a number of Iranian citizens in the Ukrainian plane crash, expressing his country's readiness for any cooperation with Iran within the framework of carrying out the necessary investigations on this incident.

The Iranian Staff announced earlier today that the shooting down of the stricken Ukrainian plane was due to a human error as a result of its approaching one of the sensitive centers of the Revolutionary Guard against the backdrop of American threats to target 52 points in Iran, stressing that the responsible parties will be held accountable.
