In the background of the driver's protest: Implementation of the taxi reform will be rejected in two months
Edit: Saul AdamIn the background of the protests, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday ordered the deferral of tax reform, in coordination with Minister of Transport Bezalel Smutrich and Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon. The prime minister and ministers this morning signed a decree extending the preparatory period for the implementation of the reform for another two months, in order to continue to conduct contacts with representatives of taxi drivers.
Danny Brenner, a retired journalist and taxi owner who works daily at Ben Gurion Airport, tells Walla! NEWS that it "welcomes the decision to postpone the implementation of the reform until after the elections," as it were. He said that "the prime minister also found that the reform was hasty and irresponsible." He explains that "in the next two months the issue will be re-examined in depth in cooperation with the headquarters of the taxi organizations and I hope that the right way is found. We are not against reform but in no way can our livelihood be impaired."
