Many Labor activists, Shafir's former political home, left to join Meretz in the Democratic camp, rejoiced at the young Knesset's demise, and celebrated her defeat. Many of them called her “traitor,” calling her “going to sign unemployment.” Others claimed she was “shrill without cover, just noise and ringtones.” One of the longtime friends at work summed up the issue, saying with satisfaction: “The best thing about Union is that Fall Shafer is a political carcass. Shafir, for her part, expressed joy over the union, but also her disappointment at remaining outside the joint party. "I will make my decisions about the road ahead in the coming day," Shapir said ahead of a close meeting with supporters and activists from the Green Party.

"I am happy that there has been a union on the left. I have led and supported this union throughout the past year and gave up my chair at work. On the other hand, I want union on the basis of hope, we are not in politics for work arrangement," she added.
