BEIJING - SANA, China today renewed its opposition to the US government's unilateral sanctions policy against countries

Beijing-Sana

China today renewed its opposition to the policy of unilateral sanctions pursued by the US administration against countries and demanded to stop targeting its companies linked to relations with Iran, stressing that it would firmly protect its legitimate rights and interests.

Xinhua quoted Geng Shuang, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, as saying today that China believes that imposing or threatening sanctions will not help in resolving issues, and that China always adheres to the principle of resolving outstanding issues between countries according to the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter and the basic rules of international relations, and these differences should be settled. Appropriately through peaceful means that include dialogue and consultation.

During a press conference, Geng stressed, commenting on the new US sanctions against Iran, which include Chinese entities, that China calls on all parties to respect the truth, adhere to the principle of political settlement, take practical steps to ease tension in the Middle East and the Gulf region, and jointly protect peace and stability in the region.

He noted that China has had friendly and mutually beneficial cooperation with Iran within the framework of international law for a long time, which does not undermine the interests of third parties and should be respected and protected.
