When you enter the city of Daraya in the countryside of Damascus, your attention is drawn to the volume of work carried out in it, which includes the various service sectors, to restore the city to its place that was distinguished before its destruction by terrorist organizations.
The head of the municipal council in Daraya Marwan Obaid explained to the delegate of Sana, who visited the city and learned about what was accomplished in it, that work began since the return of security and stability to it, noting that the process of deporting the rubble was started more than a year ago and is still continuing until now as a result of the increasing rubble resulting from the rehabilitation of houses.
Obaid pointed out that all the people who own homes in Daraya and need rehabilitation are notified to carry out the rubble of their homes before the end of this month because after this date the rubble will be removed at the expense of the homeowners.
Concerning other service sectors, the head of the Municipal Council stressed that the electricity situation in Daraya is improving, but during this period there is legalization as a result of pressure on the network, pointing out that recently two conversion centers were installed, and the number of centers reaches 10, noting that the city needs 15 centers to meet the needs of the people The population of 1300 families includes about 6500 people.
On the phone, the council president confirmed that an optical cable had been extended from Sahnaya to the Daraya divider with a capacity of 8,000 lines as a first stage and during the first months of this year the Daraya divider will be in service in addition to the opening of a bakery at the end of the year 2019 with a production capacity of 5 tons per day covering Daria and the surrounding areas Such as color, humic and dahdal, and the amount is sought to increase to 10 tons.
According to Ubaid, the police building and the dispensary that provides medical and health services to the people have been rehabilitated with the mobile clinic at the entrance to Daraya, knowing that 60 percent of government facilities are ready, indicating that the buildings of real estate interests and the civil registry will be put into service soon after the internet is connected to the city.
Zahraa Sorour, a student who returned to Daraya with her family before the opening of the schools, confirmed that they helped rehabilitate their destroyed house, where they settled, and returned to study with her brothers, pointing to the improvement of the living requirements gradually.
Mahmoud Kassah pointed out that he returned three years ago and the situation became better, but he demanded more support so that they can do more work.
The owner of one of the newly opened restaurants Mahmoud Allawi confirmed that he returned about three years ago and started to carry out the rubble and rehabilitation, then opened a restaurant to sell plate and grills, pointing to the return of the activity of various professions and crafts to Daraya.
Currently, the main entrance to the city, which started days ago with a length of 1 km, is being rehabilitated in Daraya, while many service and development projects will be implemented during the 2020 plan because Daraya’s area is large and needs great efforts to restore economic and social prestige to it.
