A possible increase in the seismic activity of the La Cumbre volcano, on Fernandina Island, was alerted by the Geophysical Institute of the National Polytechnic School of Ecuador. Fernandina Island is one of the youngest in the Galapagos, and although it has no human population, it has a great ecological value, due to the great variety of unique species that inhabit it.
