Silver king

Silver King achieved worldwide success and served for the WCW between 1997 and 2000, regularly appearing on its WCW Monday Nitro television program.

His highest profile fight was for the WCW Cruiserweight Championship against Juventud Guerrera in 1998, which he finally lost.

The risks of the fight

CNN contacted the AAA Lucha Libre organization, where La Parka was linked, to learn about the risks that may occur in the practice of this sport and the safety conditions they must have in the middle of this practice, but the organization refused to do Any comments about it.

A study in the American Journal of Sports Medicine found that concussion rates among college athletes were higher among male amateur wrestlers than among soccer players.

However, professional wrestling is different than amateur wrestling in many significant ways: winners and losers are predetermined, movements are more varied and, often, planned in advance, injuries suffered by professional wrestlers are very real and They can be as serious as in other combat sports.

Dave Meltzer, editor of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, which has covered the industry for more than 30 years, told CNN that in the past 12 years, awareness of the risk of concussion has grown tremendously among this industry.

Many American companies, including WWE, have banned direct blows to the head with chairs, after countless chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) in professional wrestlers.

The researchers believe that CTE can develop from repeated blows to the head, even in the absence of concussion, which raises doubts about whether concussion protocols are sufficient. Each time the head suffers a strong blow, it shakes the brain inside the skull. All that splash can lead to an accumulation of an abnormal protein called tau, which can affect parts of the brain.
