Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed that progress has been made in the negotiations on Libya.
Lavrov said during a press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşo أوlu in Moscow today: "Significant progress has been made in the negotiations that focused on considering a document that strengthens the ceasefire in Libya and sets out its conditions."
Lavrov pointed out that Prime Minister Al-Wefaq Fayez al-Sarraj and head of the Supreme Council of State Khalid al-Mashri signed the document while the Libyan army commander, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, requested a deadline for its study to end tomorrow morning.
And talks are taking place in the Russian capital, Moscow, on a cease-fire in Libya between the Russian foreign and defense ministers, the Turkish foreign and defense ministers, the Libyan army commander, Field Marshal Khalifa Hifter, and the head of the reconciliation government, Fayez al-Sarraj.
The Libyan Al-Wefaq government announced yesterday its approval of the ceasefire, hours after a similar announcement was issued by the Libyan army led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar.
And Libya has been witnessing since the NATO aggression against it in 2011, a state of chaos and lawlessness in light of the proliferation of weapons and terrorist organizations, while the authorities are currently fighting two main parties: the Al-Wefaq government led by Al-Sarraj and the parallel government operating in eastern Libya supported by the House of Representatives in the city of Tobruk and the Libyan army led by Field Marshal Hifter.
