Deadly snowfalls in Kashmir region: At least 67 were killed in Pakistan and India
Photo: Reuters, Edit: Shaul AdamAt least 67 people were killed in avalanches in the Kashmir region, most of them in Pakistan. Two Pakistani officials said many villagers are still stuck following the landslides in Nilum Valley, following heavy rains in the area. One of the officials said many more people are defined missing and there is concern for their lives.
In the Indian part of the controversial rope, at least ten people were killed. A senior Indian police official said five soldiers were among the teen killed near the India-Pakistan border.

The region is one of the most tense fronts in the world, with the two nuclear neighbors fighting each other for several times over Kashmir since it was divided upon their independence from Britain in 1947. In 2012, 124 soldiers and 11 civilians were killed as a landslide buried a Pakistan Army headquarters near the border with India.
