Air Force commander Maj. Gen. Amikam Norkin on Tuesday ordered an expert investigation team to investigate the reasons for declining operational base constituency following the flooding that occurred last Thursday. The order to form the team, headed by Lieutenant-Colonel T., was passed during a preliminary inquiry that Norkin was present with the Corps senior command forum.

During the initial investigation, Norkin said that "this is an incident that is inconsistent with the corps's expected and therefore it is important to research, learn and apply it in order to prevent a similar incident from occurring in the future." He emphasized that there is now great importance for conducting a "rigorous investigation", which includes examining the current case, the extent to which lessons learned from past events and the improvement of interfaces between the Air Force and the civilian authorities have been implemented.

The IDF spokesman emphasized that despite the damage to operational preparedness at Hatzor base, the Air Force continued to hold operational alert on all other corps bases.
