Algeria announced that it will host tomorrow a meeting of foreign ministers of the neighboring countries as part of efforts to reach a political settlement to the Libyan crisis.

"At an initiative from Algeria, a meeting of foreign ministers of the Libyan neighbors will take place tomorrow, in the Algerian capital, with the participation of Tunisia, Egypt, Sudan, Chad and Niger," said a statement of the Algerian Foreign Ministry today, adding that the Malian Foreign Minister will also attend this meeting.

The Algerian Foreign Ministry indicated that the meeting "falls within the framework of the determined efforts made by Algeria to strengthen coordination and consultation between the countries of the Libyan neighbor and international actors in order to accompany the Libyans to advance the path of the political settlement of the crisis through a comprehensive dialogue between the various Libyan parties."

The statement indicated that the latest developments taking place in Libya will be reviewed during the meeting with the aim of enabling the parties in Libya to take the lead in resolving the crisis in their country away from any foreign interference of any kind and whatever its nature.

The participants in the Berlin conference on Libya stressed on the 19th of January this need not to interfere in the internal affairs of this country and that the solution to the crisis in it would be through a comprehensive political process as stated in the final statement of the conference, which was signed by about 16 countries and organizations. They stressed the international efforts to strengthen the control of the arms embargo to Libya and disarm the militias, calling on all parties to distance themselves from the groups included in the United Nations list of terrorism.
