The pilot of the aircraft communicated with the control towers of several nearby airports to request the passage using the special system for low visibility conditions that the helicopter had. At one point during the recording, the control tower indicated to the pilot that they were flying too low. In the plane crash Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter and seven others died.
