Today, the second phase of the third national championship for school debates at the level of Lattakia Governorate, held by the Syrian Trust for Development and the Excellence and Creativity Authority over a period of seven days for high school students, "tenth and eleventh grades" with the participation of 16 teams, concluded today.

The Manara Al-Sulaiba Community Team of the Syrian Trust for Development has qualified for the third and final stage of the championship, which is scheduled to be held in Damascus during the period between 7 and 15 February, after strong competition with the Sheikh Manifesto team, Daher Community in the conference hall in Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts in the governorate.

The qualifying team includes the students Rashid Fakhro, Judy Muhammad and Shaima Al-Budi, in addition to the two students, Rima Diop and Maria Othman, who achieved excellent results in the English language test.

In a statement to SANA correspondent, Rami Ramadan, a member of the National Committee for School Debates in Latakia, pointed out that the topics of the discussions varied between social, cultural, medical, scientific and ethical, and showed the ability of students to invest time and work with the spirit of one team.

Student Rashid Fakhro talked about the factors that helped the team achieve victory, most notably harmony, understanding and cultural stockpile on the topics raised, and how to elicit information on topics on which they do not have previous information.

In turn, the student Shaima Al-Boudi pointed out the importance of the comments made by the jury to develop the style and strategy and enrich their general culture through research and development of thinking and logical analysis skills, while the student Judy Mohammed expressed her happiness in winning, especially that they were facing the national team that represented the governorate last year, which added more Enthusiasm for competitive atmosphere.

Sixty teams from the governorates - Damascus, Rural Damascus, Quneitra, As-Suwayda, Homs, Hama, Tartous, Lattakia and Aleppo - will participate in the championship, and include three stages at the school level, the second at the provincial level and the third at the national level, in order to choose the team that will represent Syria in the world championship for school debates scheduled to be held in Mexico during Next July.
