Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas reaffirmed that the "Deal of the Century" is totally and totally rejected, stressing that the Palestinian people will not give up their national principles and inalienable rights, foremost of which is the establishment of the Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Abbas said during an emergency meeting at the Arab League in Cairo today that "Jerusalem and the Palestinian issue are not for sale, and we reject the deal of the century absolutely," adding that "the deal of the century negates international legitimacy decisions and upholds the legitimacy of US President Donald Trump."
Abbas said: "The US administration contacted us after the announcement of the deal and we refused to receive it to read it ... We refused to speak with Trump and received any message from him because he would have claimed that he consulted with us."
Abbas pointed out that Palestine will continue to work with the International Criminal Court and will go to the UN Security Council and all international organizations to support the just cause of the Palestinian people.
Abbas reiterated the Palestinians' refusal that the United States be the sole mediator in any settlement process, calling for the establishment of an international multilateral mechanism to help solve the Palestinian issue and reactivate the role of the international quartet committee "Russia, the United States, the United Nations and the European Union" in this regard.
Abbas stressed that the Palestinian people will not accept the imposition of any solutions that are inconsistent with the resolutions of international legitimacy and will continue the struggle until the end of the occupation and the establishment of its independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.
