The virus and world order

2020-02-01T20:46:18.851Z

Take care of yours

The Corona virus is responsible for fatal mortality mainly in distant China, but every day there is a growing fear of infection, especially among travelers or businessmen returning from a visit to China. Cases of infection have already been documented in countries such as France and the United States, and many are surprised by the sudden outbreak of the virus, without prior warning, there are none. Those who were not surprised by the virus outbreak, according to reports from the city of Wuhan, where it was first discovered, are actually local residents. The virus has been a few weeks before their government decided to take measures to prevent it from spreading, steps that can now be said to have been unsuccessful.

These reports illustrate the profound change in world order. One would expect the world countries to protest vigorously that the Chinese authorities did not stop the spread of the disease at the time. Things are different. The World Health Organization decided only last Thursday, after the virus was discovered in 18 countries and about 170 people died, to declare an emergency, a step that has been widely criticized by those who thought it had to act so much earlier. But it didn't end there. Instead of reprimanding China, the World Health Organization "congratulated the leadership and political commitment of the highest echelons in the Chinese government, their commitment to transparency and efforts made to investigate and contain the outbreak." This, although China does not operate transparently, and many residents of Wuhan say the government ignored their reports.

The World Health Organization's behavior indicates China's strengthening position in the world. If it used to be a big and important country, but still one that can be vigorously criticized in international forums and diplomatic frameworks, today the countries of the world understand that China is getting stronger, and that it might be better not to "get involved" with it. Even the United States, by far the strongest power, and President Trump, who declared a trade war on China threatening his country's status as the world's undisputed control, decided to abandon the boycotts and wars and reached a trade agreement with the Chinese government last month.

It is interesting to question the extent to which the Chinese can stretch their increasing influence in the global arena. In the meantime, they have had some simple crises, including allegations that Chinese technology companies are disguising espionage against people in the West, accusations by Chinese civilians that their government has not acted in time to contain the Corona virus, and even the most serious charges of running concentration camps in which millions of prisoners are held. Ethnic ethnicity in northwestern China and Central Asia), hardly anyone speaks anymore.

We live in a time of new world order, old powers weaken and new ones grow stronger. We must hope that tyranny and concealment will not be the new and forgiven reality that will arise in a few years.
