They extend preventive detention to Keiko Fujimori 1:17

(CNN Spanish) - The former president of Peru, Alberto Fujimori, was admitted to the Japanese Peruvian Centennial Clinic in Lima this Monday at 1 in the morning.

In communication with CNN, his doctor Alejandro Aguinaga said that at 8:30 pm on Sunday, the ex-president felt "weak and short of breath."

According to Fujimori's GP, the patient "was oxygenated for 45 minutes."

Subsequently, the staff of the Barbadillo prison parking lot, where he is being held, decided to transfer him to the clinic because "he did not articulate speech properly."

Alejandro Aguinaga says that Alberto Fujimori is undergoing several evaluations, including a pulmonary tomography, to be able to have an accurate diagnosis of his state of health.

Alberto Fujimori, who was president of Peru between 1990 and 2000, has been held since 2007 serving a 25-year prison sentence for crimes committed during his administration.

After the preliminary detention of his daughter Keiko Fujimori, investigated for money laundering under the Odebretch case, the former president published a letter on his social networks on Wednesday that, in one of his parts, said: “The time has come to give a different answer. It is time to act and make people understand in Peru and abroad that there is a political persecution against Fujimori here. ”
