The situation of the Argentine automotive market is delicate and the sales of the first month of the year clearly reflect it: with 44,717 patented units it is the worst January of the sector in the last 16 years.
Although there is a jump compared to December (+ 109%), the first month ends up being the best of all during the year, since many records are postponed so that the model appears already in the new year.
The Volkswagen T-Cross was among the best sellers.
If the comparison is made with January 2019, the numbers show a 25% drop when 60,108 units had been patented. Against this backdrop, the Association of Automobile Dealers of Argentina (ACARA), made an annual projection that would yield 342,240 units , much less than 460,000 than last year.
Among the Volkswagen brands, it was once again the company that patented the most models, with a total of 7,619 vehicles, followed by Renault (5,942), Toyota (5,474), Fiat (5,039), Ford (4,870), Chevrolet (4,095), Peugeot ( 2,475), Nissan (1,656), Jeep (1,377) and Citroën (1,339), among the top 10.
The trend according to the type of vehicles continues to show a preference for pickups . Toyota Hilux once again led the overall ranking as the best-selling model and of the 10 brands that sold the most during the first month of the year, 7 have a pickup within its range.
In fact, among the 10 most patented models in January, 4 are vans.
