The washing machine is supposed to clean your clothes, but over the years and repetitive operations, it itself accumulates dirt and mold, which only makes it difficult to clean. Countless washing machine cleaning tips run online and one with horrific looking results from mom from the Facebook group Mums Who Clean went viral after offering to take out the grime that had accumulated in the washing machine with dishwasher tablets.
According to her, the solution is super easy - insert a dishwasher into the empty dishwasher - of any brand - and operate it at warm temperature. However, it turns out that although the trick is apparently effective, its results are quite nauseating. One of the moms who tried the trick put in 4 tablets and turned on the machine. At the end of the operation, she discovered that the water coming out of the washing machine had turned brown and filthy - and she believes this was all the dirt the machine had accumulated over the years.

This trick of dishwasher tablets is nothing new. Many used tablets to clean up more delicate dirt and try to get rid of stains, but in the case of the washing machine the result was terrible.
Several other women tried the trick and came to similar results. One wrote: "It's an understatement to say I'm disgusted by this." Another wrote: "I can already see the lightning coming back to my machine." One of the women said she cleaned the machine with warm water and vinegar a few weeks ago, but the results were not impressive. So she tried this trick and came to a similar result. She used a hose to drain the dirty water into a bucket and was amazed to find out how much the water was contaminating: "The bottom of the bucket was like a lumpy, filthy pudding," she wrote.

Experts warn
Despite the surprising results, electrical products experts believe that the manufacturer's instructions should be followed to clean the washing machine and not adopt cheap cleaning tricks. "Each type and model of washing machine is built in a different way," said Daniella Sukri, an executive at Plainsnes Online. "Some recommend not using concentrated bleach, stain removers and hydrocarbon solvents (e.g., fuel thinners), as they can damage surfaces." She said most washing machines should undergo a warm rinse or internal cleaning every two or three months. "The more efficient solution is to run the machine at high temperature with Epsom salt (also called English salt) and then let it run again on hot rinsing. In both washes clothes should not be put into the machine. Epsom salts are a natural way to get rid of persistent smells as well."
