The national government launched an interministerial committee to analyze the evolution of the coronavirus and coordinate a "common discourse" regarding the fight against the disease. The first meeting, headed by the Minister of Health, Ginés González García, was held this Friday at noon at Casa Rosada, hours after the first case of an infected Argentine in Japan was confirmed.

"The idea is to coordinate more what we have been doing. There will be systematic meetings with the ministries and the scientific community to go out and talk with a common speech," said Ginés, who compared the new committee with which he formed in 2007 with the outbreak of influenza.

And he added, in that line: "The situation is stable. There is a good fact that new cases have decreased . We would be entering the period of epidemic decline."

The first meeting was also attended by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Roberto Salvarezza, the Chief of Staff, Santiago Cafiero, and leaders from other areas of Government and the scientific community.

According to Clarín sources from the ministry, the main objective of the committee will be "to inform about the actions in progress, to give recommendations for companies, airports and ports " and "to coordinate the information to unify the official message".

"One point that Ginés highlighted a lot was that the coronavirus affects boys in a minimum percentage. It affects older age groups, with low defenses. It gave us peace of mind. We have more concern for dengue than for the coronavirus," the sources revealed. .

In the last hours it was confirmed that an Argentine of the eight who are on board the Diamond Princess, moored in the port of the city of Yokohama, was positive for the coronavirus, after which he was transferred to a hospital in Japan .

The man is from Buenos Aires and was traveling with his wife, who was tested negative, according to Chilean passenger Ximena Paredes, who met the marriage.

In the vessel quarantined on Monday, in which 3,711 people of 56 nationalities travel, the infected people total 61.
