The managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, in office since the departure of Christine Lagarde, last fall, wants a team in her hand. The Bulgarian, whose candidacy had been supported by Emmanuel Macron, announced Friday the departure of the number two of the institution, David Lipton.

American as tradition has it because of the weight of the United States, the Fund's first shareholder, David Lipton had been in office for more than nine years. No other deputy director general held this position for so long in the institution created at the end of the Second World War.
The departure of David Lipton, who will be effective at the end of the month, comes "in the context of changes that she (the director general) wants to make in the management team," said the press release from the Fund.
"Intellectual leadership" and "innovative ideas"
Kristalina Georgieva also announced the departure of the IMF's executive director, Carla Grasso. The search for people likely to replace them goes quickly
