The General Authority of the Martyr Iyad Ahmed Ibrahim Hospital in Baniyas today installed a new third-generation lithotripsy device, at a cost exceeding 300 million Syrian pounds.
The Director General of the Commission, Dr. Imad Bashour, stated in a statement to correspondent to SANA that within the first stage of operating the device, a number of shredding sessions were conducted for today's patients successfully, indicating that during the trial phase, shredding operations will be carried out at a rate of two days per week and based on prior dates.
Bashour pointed out that the device will serve the people of the province and the coastal region in general, as well as reduce the burden of traveling to Banias and its countryside to travel to Tartous to carry out break-up sessions in addition to providing the burden of the cost of the sessions with the private sector.
And the cost of one session between Bashur is that it is free for the families of the martyrs and the wounded, and for a nominal fee not exceeding 7 thousand Syrian pounds, which is a very small amount compared to the private sector, stressing that a number of hospital personnel have been trained to work on the device.
