Maduro government denounces “terrorist attack” after fire in telecommunication state companies

(CNN Spanish) - A fire affected the facilities of state-owned communications companies CanTV (National Telephone Company of Venezuela) and Movilnet on Saturday night in the Flor Amarillo sector of Valencia, Carabobo state, according to Vice President Delcy Rodriguez

Without presenting evidence or details, Rodriguez said on his Twitter account that the fire was caused by a "terrorist attack" and that this caused "total loss of strategic telecommunications material."

“The Pdte. @NicolasMaduro has ordered the immediate restitution of this indispensable material and the capture of those responsible! ”, Rodríguez wrote. "Together with the workers of MOVILNET and CANTV, we will present the Recovery Plan to Pdte @NicolasMaduro," he added.

Rodriguez said the incident was an attack by "the opposition extremism directed from Washington." CanTV and Movilnet operate under the Ministry of Popular Power for Science and Technology (Mppct).
