Why was tourism reduced in the Dominican Republic?

Its geographical position, its natural wealth and its varied tourist offer place the Dominican Republic as the greatest power in receiving travelers in the Caribbean, according to official figures. However, in 2019 its industry without chimneys, the main source of foreign exchange, contracted 4.6% according to the Central Bank. About 10 thousand people were suspended without pay.
