Maduro: "Donald Trump, you can't with Venezuela" 1:28

(CNN Spanish) - Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza is in The Hague to file a complaint against crimes against humanity by the United States government against Venezuelans. According to a statement from the Ministry of Popular Power for Foreign Affairs, published Thursday, the foreign minister delivers this complaint to the International Criminal Court (ICC) for the "illegal unilateral coercive measures that he has been implementing since 2014."

One of the last measures taken by the United States was last Friday against the Venezuelan government's flag carrier, CONVIASA, for moving Maduro and his private circle, in a use that the State Department considers “improper”.

The United States does not recognize the questioned Nicolás Maduro as president, but Juan Guaidó, opposition leader and president of the Venezuelan National Assembly. During a meeting at the White House on February 5, Donald Trump committed himself to Guaidó to "put more pressure" on Maduro, according to an informed source on the subject. The US Government justifies the imposition of sanctions for considering Maduro's mandate illegitimate.

CNN is seeking reaction from the United States regarding the complaint filed by Arreaza.

Currently, the International Criminal Court is studying a case presented by six countries against the Venezuelan Government in 2018, for having committed alleged crimes against humanity in the context of the 2017 demonstrations. The ICC is an independent judicial body that has jurisdiction to judge individuals accused of committing genocide, war crimes, against humanity and aggression against other nations
