Röhrmoos - As part of a festive ceremony in front of 80 guests in the crowded town hall hall, Mayor Dieter Kugler awarded Sepp Schmid from Riedenzhofen and Schorsch Mayr from Biberbach the Citizen Medal of the Röhrmoos community. The flags on the municipal flags alone gave a hint from far away that there was a festive and joyful occasion that the Schönbrunn wind players framed musically.

The fact that the town hall hall was packed was due to the fact that not only the families of the two honored people came, but also a number of notables. Kugler, who wore his official chain, was pleased that pastor Michael Bartmann, the Schönbrunn general superior, sister Benigna Sirl, honorary citizen Paula Herzinger, former mayor Hans Lingl, had several parish councilors and numerous association board members present when he began his eulogy.

Röhrmoos has regulations on how honor medals are awarded, according to the honor order. The basis is volunteering. "Volunteering is the salt in our society's soup and stands for a bit of quality of life for all of us," Kugler emphasized. He emphasized that the honor of being a citizen medalist was reserved for only a few people. Schmid and Mayr are special role models for volunteering.

Kugler first examined the life of Schmid, who was born in Riedenzhofen in 1948 and was involved in the village community early on in his job as a painter. He has been a representative for the disabled in the Röhrmoos community for twelve years, and as a long-time employee at the Franziskuswerk Schönbrunn, he has acquired valuable specialist knowledge.

Schmid was also a municipal councilor in the UWG parliamentary group for twelve years and in this function in a number of committees. The Riedenzhofen rifle club was particularly close to his heart for many decades. Here he was the chairman and marksman for 25 years and did a particularly good job with several shooting range constructions. He was never too good for a job.

The “all-rounder” also took care of the parish excursions for Röhrmoos, Großinzemoos and Sigmertshausen for many years. From 2005 to 2017 he was also treasurer of the Röhrmooser Kulturkreis. His level-headed and calm manner made him particularly popular with the citizens. In the shooting club you appreciate his sociable nature.

Kugler did not hide the fact that despite his great commitment to the community, Schmid remained a family man who took great pleasure in his grandchildren.

The lifetime achievement of Schorsch Mayr, who was a farmer with body and soul on the Lohauser-Hof in Biberbach, was also impressive. He had lost his father in the war and learned as a young man to take responsibility. Mayr had been a member of the municipal council for 24 years and was therefore also a member of a large number of committees and several associations. Democracy has always been very important to Mayr. The community partnership with the southern French community of Taradeau was also important to him.

He was shaped by the position of honorary lay judge at the Munich II regional court, where he dealt with both small criminals and serious criminals. For many years he was a member of the Biberbach church administration. The 15 years in which he took on responsibility for the Biberbacher water and soil association were also to be counted highly. Other functions of Mayr were local chairman in the Bavarian Farmers' Association and 14 years hunting committee.

The office of the chairman in the Biberbach land consolidation procedure was certainly not an easy task, where it concerned the consolidation of land, the protection of natural resources and flood protection. The land consolidation, which was only finally completed after 22 years, finally became a benefit for local recreation. Basic provision for road construction and the planting of many trees and shrubs was also part of Mayr's life's work.

Of course, the mayor thanked the wives of the two honored women with flowers.

Both Schmid and Mayr were very touched by the honor, so that a few tears could not be hidden. Mayr let you know that you can achieve a lot on a voluntary basis with common sense alone and that his wife has given him a lot of support over the years. He is also convinced: “My friend, the mayor Sepp Westermayr, who died last year, would also be delighted to be honored today. In any case, I am proud to be a Röhrmooser. ”

Both Mayr and Schmid wished the community a successful future before there was sparkling wine and filled rolls and the brass music was staged again.
