Attorney Michael Evanati, who represented adult film star Stormy Daniels in a lawsuit against U.S. President Donald Trump - was found guilty of attempting to blackmail the sportswear company Nike. This was reported Friday in the United States.

Manhattan federal prosecutors found Avenati guilty of three felonies: attempted racketeering, network fraud and message transfer for the purpose of racketeering. The lawyer may receive a 42-year prison sentence.

The 48-year-old Avanati, who did not testify in his defense, did not admit charges against him for attempting to extort $ 25 million from Nike by threatening to expose corruption in the company unless he had more to do. According to the lawsuit, the lawyer then held $ 11 million in debt.

"Today, the jury unanimously decided that Michael Evanati was guilty of using client information to extort tens of millions of dollars from Nike sportswear company," said prosecutor Joffrey Berman. Clearly the defendant is ashamed of what it is - extortion of threats in the old-fashioned sense of the word. "

Remember, porn star Daniels claimed that before the US presidential election, she received a silence fee from Trump's lawyer because of an alleged affair with him in 2006. As a result, the US president claimed it was a "total scam." In response, Daniels filed a lawsuit against him with attorney Avanati, but that claim was denied in court.

However, following an FBI raid on attorney Michael Cohen's office, which paid Daniels and other women funds, he admitted it as part of a plea deal. Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison.
