The Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of several persons who dealt with non-Syrian pounds and manipulated exchange rates and confiscated various amounts of money and cellular devices in their possession.
In a statement, SANA received a copy of it, the Ministry explained that while a criminal security branch in Damascus was performing the tasks entrusted to it in combating crimes, it arrested a person and seized a stolen mobile phone, "Samsung".
The Ministry indicated that, by investigating the arrested person, he confessed to committing several crimes, taking cellular devices and sums of money from citizens, and by investigating the cell phone with the intention of knowing his owner and returning him to him, it was found that there was evidence in it that two people dealt with other than the Syrian pound, where the Criminal Security Branch managed to arrest them and by investigating them The first was to practice the exchange profession without a license within his shop, which is intended to sell jewelry for the purpose of financial profit, and the second admitted that he smuggled foreign coins by purchasing goods in foreign currency for his shop intended to sell clothes from outside Syria.
The Ministry confirmed that the necessary action has been taken against those arrested and that they will be brought to the proper jurisdiction.
