The school did not explain where they were students. The school also said that the last batch of quarantine students in the dormitory will end the quarantine on Wednesday (19th). At present, more than 100 quarantine students are in good health.
PolyU: Some students want to go home to continue isolation
PolyU responded at 1 am today that the self-isolated students in the dormitory include mainland students, international students and local students. During the self-isolation period, some of the students stated that they would like to go home to continue the isolation. The school is assessing the situation. Afterwards, respect the reasonable wishes of the boarders as far as possible, and let them leave the dormitory; however, once the boarders have left, they must complete 14 days of self-isolation before returning to the dormitory.
PolyU said that the school has adopted stricter measures than the government. Before the government has yet to announce the self-isolation of people returning to Hong Kong from Hubei Province and other places in the Mainland within 14 days, the school has requested all those from Hubei Province and from other places in the Mainland on January 22 and January 31, respectively. Students and staff returning to Hong Kong are self-isolated. Therefore, before the SAR government imposed compulsory quarantine on the relevant persons on February 8, the school has asked relevant personnel to self-isolate.

The spokesman also said that, in response to changes in the epidemic, PolyU has implemented measures to stop the arrangement of Mainland students returning to Hong Kong to stay in dormitories from February 5. The spokesman said that students accepting self-isolation must strictly abide by the relevant guidelines for self-isolation, including not being able to leave the independent room arranged by the school during self-isolation, and submitting daily temperature monitoring records and health reports to the house supervisor. Do not leave the dormitory during the quarantine period, and the student card function of the relevant boarding students is cancelled. The school has also arranged house supervisors and tutors to pay close attention to the situation of relevant students, and to provide assistance in various aspects, such as delivering meals.
