Munich - In the early morning hours, a fire broke out in a Munich apartment building in the Laim district on Saturday . There was damage to property of at least 300,000 euros - one apartment was completely destroyed, three more were uninhabitable.
Fire in Munich apartment building: woman saves herself from balcony
According to the Munich fire brigade , the fire broke out early Saturday morning in an apartment on the second floor of a seven-story apartment building in Elsenheimerstrasse in Laim . As more and more callers called the fire brigade about the fire, the control center raised the alarm level while the first emergency services were approaching.

She was rescued by the turntable ladder from the balcony on the second floor. Only then did it turn out that the woman was the owner of the apartment in which the actual fire broke out. She had saved herself over the balcony to a neighboring apartment and survived the fire unharmed.
Fire in Munich-Laim: House has to be evacuated - some residents cannot go back for the time being
The fire department started an attempt to extinguish the stairs and the turntable ladder parallel to the rescue operation. It took the respiratory protection teams almost 40 minutes to extinguish the fire. The fire also damaged a radiator, from which an enormous amount of hot water leaked. Since the heating circuits of such a large building cannot be shut down quickly, the fire department piped the water outside until the water could be turned off.
38 residents of the house were evacuated during the fire service. All apartments were checked together with them. Some units had to be broken up because there were no residents on site and no keys were available. Almost everyone was able to return to their homes after the fire was extinguished. In addition to the fire apartment, the apartment above it and the two below it are uninhabitable. Nobody got hurt. The police are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
